Comic transcript

In Act 2 of Cunning Fire- Akiva learned the lore behind Azrael and his murky past, discovering that 'Azrael' is actually a title passed down from human to human by a pact. The current Azrael made his pact in order to help him close the catastrophic rift that was caused by his creation of the Elixir of Life in the 1700s. Thanks to Naomi's research, we know that Azrael Ora's partner on that journey was a man named Nikita, who died in the event and later became Bahram. Akiva asks Darcy to partner up with her on their quests for the Elixir- and also on a coffee date. On that date, they discover that the crystal Darcy gave Akiva for protection is protecting her from one of the side effects of Darcy's pact with Bahram: that whenever someone touches skin with her, both of them will get burned. Darcy leaves suddenly. Upon returning to the covenhouse, Akiva overhears a heated talk between Eden and his vision of Bahram. When she confronts him, he finally comes clean with her and tells her about the events of 121613 and how Seth died. And so, Akiva and Darcy embark on their journey. They pass easily through the early Sectors, but are confronted by many conflicts later. Darcy and Akiva uncover the truth: that Darcy was the former Guardian of Sector Three, Anael, in her original past life. The power she still has is why Bahram pacted with her, so he can absorb it and become a High Spirit to kill Azrael. Two lifetimes ago, Anael created the first Elixir of Life in order to make herself human, out of love for Akiva's second past life. They fell in love again in the next lifetime too, each time brought together by a pact called Anael's Mark, which is an exchange of a frangemt of their energies that magnetically brings them together again to meet in the next lifetime. In the end, Akiva reaches Sector Thirteen alone. Azrael can't create the Elixir to kill Bahram, but he agrees to do it in order to fix the Balance- a long-standing issue leftover from his own Elixir mishap 3 centuries
